If you’re mailing your precious metals to P & F Coin, it’s important to pack your shipment with care. Here’s how to protect your valuables and ensure a smooth delivery:
Place your items in a smaller box and pack it tightly with crumpled newspaper, grocery bags, or other cushioning material. Then place that box inside a larger outer box with additional padding to prevent shifting during transit.
Tape coin tubes shut to prevent spillage. For bullion bars or rounds, wrap them individually to avoid movement. Then tape all box seams thoroughly with packing tape. If using USPS Registered Mail, brown paper tape is required to seal the entire package.
Print and include your emailed packing slip inside every box you send. This helps us quickly identify your order and process your payout without delay.
Make sure the shipping label includes both the recipient address and your return address. Use a permanent marker or printed label for visibility and legibility.
We strongly suggest using USPS Registered Mail for domestic shipments. It’s the most secure and insurable option available for mailing gold, silver, and other precious metals. Shipments can take 5–15 business days, depending on your location and whether the shipment is domestic or international.
Important: While our clients have had great success with these methods, all shipping is at the sender’s own risk. P & F Coin is not responsible for lost or damaged shipments. We encourage you to insure your package and keep your tracking number until delivery is confirmed.
At P & F Coin Company, we believe in straightforward pricing with no hidden fees or gimmicks. Our offers are based on the live market value of gold, silver, and platinum, and we always aim to be as fair as possible while still operating a sustainable business.
Gold Scrap: We pay up to 85% of the contained gold value
Silver & Platinum: We typically pay 60%–80%, depending on form and quantity
Larger Lots (10+ oz gold): Special rates may apply — let’s talk!
💡 Please note: With vintage or handmade jewelry, gold content may vary slightly due to alloys, repairs, or solder. Our goal is to evaluate your items carefully and offer you the best price possible, upfront and without surprises.
You may have seen commercials promising 25% more cash or payouts as high as 98% of melt value. Let’s break those offers down and explain why P & F Coin is the smarter choice:
This typically means 25% more than their own base offer, which might only be 30% of value. That comes out to just 37.5% — far less than our up to 80%.
Some companies claim they’ll pay 98% of value, but add:
Assay Fee: $40
Melt Fee: $250
Shipping Fee: $25
If you’re selling $500 worth of gold, 98% is $490 — but subtract $265 in fees and you’re left with $225. That’s only 45%, not 98%.
